HCSD Distributes Over 14,000 Laptops to Students

(HARRISON COUNTY, MS) The new spring semester started with a new laptop for thousands of students in the Harrison County School District! During the week of January 4 – 8, 2021, schools in the HCSD distributed over 14,000 Dell laptops to students. The new devices are part of an innovative statewide program aimed at putting devices in the hands of every student in Mississippi. The technology is available to both traditional and virtual learners.

The laptops will allow HCSD students to continue to receive a quality education, whether they are in school or at home. This is a voluntary program for families and students had to go through a digital citizenship course prior to receiving an assigned device. While schools like Three Rivers Elementary handed out the laptops on the students’ first day back from Winter Break, several schools in the district chose to distribute the devices to parents on Monday and Tuesday.

The HCSD would like to thank the Mississippi Department of Education and the Mississippi Legislature for making this program possible. We would also like to express our appreciation to numerous HCSD employees, including our technology team, school administrators, and librarians, who worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this big event.
