HCSD Issuing Lunch Money Refunds

HCSD Issuing Lunch Money Refunds

(HARRISON COUNTY, MS) On September 9, 2020, the Harrison County School District received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to resume the Summer Feeding Program that ended July 31st. Recently, the USDA granted the district further approval, allowing all paid meals served during August and the first week of September to qualify for Summer Feeding reimbursements. This means students who paid for meals from August 6 through September 9, 2020, will be eligible for a refund.

HCSD has worked tirelessly to seek and issue refunds to our student's cafeteria accounts for any payments made since the start of school. Parents/guardians may choose to keep the funds on their child’s account for the spring semester or be refunded by check following the procedures outlined in the HCSD Student Handbook.

Earlier this month, the USDA extended the Summer Feeding Program through December 31, 2020, as a way to help families during the pandemic. The universal free meals are available to all children ages 18 and under. That applies to traditional, virtual, homeschooled students, as well as those who are not enrolled in HCSD.

If you have any questions regarding the reimbursements, please contact the HCSD Child Nutrition Department during regular business hours at (228) 539-6516.
