HCSD Shows Appreciation to Education Partners

HCSD Shows Appreciation to Education Partners
(HARRISON COUNTY, MS)  Four community partners of the Harrison County School District received much-deserved recognition during Monday night's school board meeting. HCSD leaders thanked the companies for their major contributions to support HCSD students and teachers.

KFCU Thanks

The first company recognized was Keesler Federal Credit Union.
Harrison County Schools Superintendent Roy Gill presented a special plaque to Mr. James Hollingsworth, KFCU Chairman of the Board and Anthony Abella, KFCU Financial Education Specialist, to thank the company for donating over 1,300 backpacks, school supply kits, and hand sanitizers to every kindergartner in HCSD.

This is the second year that KFCU has held its Backpacks for Bright Futures Program to make sure new students have the tools they need to start their educational journey.

HCSD also honored three other companies for their significant contributions that led to the success of the district-wide Count Me In attendance campaign.

On March 5, 2020, HCSD received a prestigious honor – the Governor’s Partnership Award. The award was presented by the Mississippi Association of Partners in Education (MAPE) to recognize Mississippi’s top school-community partners for working together to produce outstanding results for students.

HCSD was one of three school districts in the state to receive the award in the “District & Community-Wide” category for the Count Me In attendance campaign. T
he campaign was launched during the 2018-19 school year with the goal of raising the attendance rates at all 22 schools in the district. The campaign was called “Count Me In”, because HCSD believes everyone counts when it comes to encouraging students to come to school every day. That includes the support from local businesses.

HCSD was blessed to have over 25 businesses, organizations, and individuals donate prizes to reward both students and staff for their good attendance records. Mr. Gill presented certificates of recognition to the following companies for their donations:
