ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING 2020-21 ONLINE SCHOOL REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING HCSD STUDENTS:

Who can register for school right now?
A. School registration is now open for families with students who attended and ended the year with any Harrison County School District school in 2019-2020, and will be RETURNING to the Harrison County School District for the 2020-2021 school year. Only the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of the student may register their child for school.

How do I get started?
A. Just visit the Harrison County School District website www.harrison.k12.ms.us and look for the “School Registration” tab at the top of the page. Once you click on the tab, it will take you directly to the school registration link. Complete the online registration form for “RETURNING STUDENTS” and submit it. The forms are in English and Spanish.

Do I need to set up an account to register my child?
A. Parents of RETURNING students will need to set up an account to start the registration process.

Do I need a Snapcode to register my child for school?
A. Parents of RETURNING students must enter a Snapcode to get started. Families will receive notification of their Snapcodes in the mail. If your address has changed, you will need to contact your child’s school on July 20, 2020, to get the registration information.

Do I need proofs of residency for registration?
A. RETURNING students whose address has not changed from the previous year do not need to submit proofs of residency. All NEW and RETURNING students whose addresses have changed will be required to prove residency. More information will be announced at a later date regarding how to submit proofs. The district is awaiting guidance from MDE and will post updates on HCSD Facebook and HCSD website.

Is there a deadline to register for school?
A. The last day to register for the 2020-21 school year is Monday, August 3, 2020.  Completing early registration will allow the schools time to create class schedules for each student. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Registration will not be taking place on the first day of school, August 6, 2020.

What if I did not receive my child’s report card?
A. Report cards must come from your child’s school. You may call the elementary and middle schools on July 20th to get the report card. High school offices are open daily from 8am-3pm.

Are there special vaccination requirements for incoming 7th graders?
A. All RETURNING students who are entering the 7th grade will be required to have their T-dap vaccination.

How can I find out where my child will be attending school in 2020-21?
A. Just click on this link http://smpdd.maps.arcgis.com/…/OneP…/basicviewer/index.html… and enter your address on the upper right hand corner of the page. Once the pink map appears, click anywhere on the map and you will see the names of the elementary, middle, and high school that your child will be attending. Be sure to click on the “Next Feature” arrow icon to see each school.

Where can I find the school supply list?
A. All kindergarten students in HCSD will receive free school supplies that will be donated by Keesler Federal Credit Union. The distribution date and other information will be announced at a later date. For students in grades 1st-12th, the supply list will be provided by each school.

When is the first day of school for 2020-21 in HCSD?
A. The first day of school in the Harrison County School District is Thursday, August 6, 2020. More information regarding back-to-school schedules and reopening plans will be posted as soon as the information becomes available. Please check HCSD Facebook and District website for updates.
