Dr. Marks Named as New HCSD Assistant Superintendent

(July 8, 2024) – We are excited to announce that Dr. Laretta Marks will serve as one of three new Assistant Superintendents in HCSD!
 
 Dr. Marks began her distinguished career in education in the Harrison County School District. Over the years, she has held various pivotal roles, including special education teacher at North Gulfport Middle School, assistant principal at Harrison Central Elementary, principal of Lyman Elementary, and Director of Student Services for the school district. Dr. Marks earned her Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees from Jackson State University, followed by her Specialist and Doctoral degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi.
 
 Dr. Marks is deeply committed to her work, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for educational excellence to her current role. She firmly believes in the importance of providing all students in HCSD with a high-quality education, ensuring they have the necessary tools and opportunities to become productive and successful citizens. Her dedication to student success is evident in her unwavering support for both our students and staff.
