West Harrison High Teacher Named to Mississippi Teacher Advisory Council

(August 19, 2024) – Congratulations to Dr. Tiffini Pollard of West Harrison High on being appointed by MDE to serve on the Mississippi Teacher Advisory Council (MTAC). Dr. Pollard is among 45 new members of MTAC, which aims to empower teachers to discuss topics critical to the success in the classroom and how MDE can assist. MTAC now has a total of 195 members who are considered experienced and highly regarded education professionals from across the state.
 
The following teachers from HCSD are current members of MTAC:

• Elizabeth Arnold – Harrison County Alternative School
• Scott Belham – West Harrison High School - Gulfport, MS
• Lindsey Byerley – Creekbend Elementary and Middle School
• Angel Klobe – D'Iberville Middle School
• Sharon Taylor – Bel-Aire Elementary School
• Terri Tyler – West Harrison Middle School
• Crystal White – Creekbend Elementary and Middle School
 
MTAC members provide feedback to the state superintendent of education on the initiatives of the MDE, the State Board of Education, and the Mississippi Legislature. We are so proud of our educators who are representing their schools and HCSD at the state level!
