Surprising March HCSD Teacher of the Month Winner

(April 16, 2025) – Get ready for another teacher surprise! 

Today, we visited North Gulfport Elementary & Middle School to surprise Ms. Lekeisha Stewart with the exciting news that she is the HCSD March Teacher of the Month winner! Our education partners, Huntington Learning Center and Educate & Celebrate of Gulfport, presented Ms. Stewart with lunch from Canes with extra sauce, gift cards, a certificate, and balloons.

In addition to teaching third-grade ELA, Ms. Stewart drives the bus for the elementary & middle school students and tutors after school. She recently held a third-grade boot camp to prepare students for this week's state Reading Gate Assessment.

"Ms. Stewart is a star! She's awesome and energetic, and she's all about the kids. Whatever we ask her to do, she does, and she continues to do great things every day," said NGEMS Principal Georgette Braselman.
