Junior Leadership

Junior Leadership is a youth leadership program sponsored by the Harrison County School District that was established in 2001.  Since then, we have had over 900 students graduate from this program with a better understanding of being leaders in their schools and communities.  The goals of Junior Leadership include:

  • Gaining the skills needed to become a leader
  • Integrating community service projects with classroom curriculum
  • Achieving skills to solve real-life problems
  • Developing confidence and self-esteem
  • Promoting civic responsibility while meeting community needs
  • Developing and recognizing the importance of diversity at school and in the community
  • Participating in community service through volunteerism
  • Developing awareness of local government, economy, and business etiquette
  • Promoting an interest in higher education
  • Creating long-lasting friendships
