Cafeteria Manager Named Connect. Empower. Thrive Award Recipient

(April 2, 2026) – We're springing into Spring Break with another great surprise, this time at the Harrison County Child Development Center! Today, we dropped by the cafeteria to honor Mrs. Gidgett Atwell, the Cafe Manager at the CDC, with the “Connect. Empower. Thrive Recognition Award”!
HCSD Superintendent William Bentz presented Mrs. Atwell with a certificate, a $100 QDOBA gift card, and a swag bag from the Gulfport restaurant. Our assistant superintendents, Child Nutrition Director Brad Barlow, and CDC Director Angie Tanner also joined in the special presentation.
Mrs. Atwell has been the school's Child Nutrition Manager for the past two years and excels in her leadership role. This is her first year running the cafeteria by herself, and she’s doing a phenomenal job!
“Whether it be special events for students or operating the CDC cafeteria during the early morning hours, she exemplifies professionalism and positivity,” said Brad Barlow.
Congratulations, Mrs. Atwell!
