King Honored by HCSD School Board

(June 24, 2024)—On Monday night, the Harrison County School Board honored Mr. Mitchell King for his extraordinary 55-year career in the Harrison County School District! This is Mr. King’s last week on the job as the district’s superintendent. He is retiring after working in HCSD as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent.
 
School Board President Dr. Barbara Thomas read a proclamation expressing the board’s deep appreciation and admiration of Mr. King’s exemplary service and unwavering dedication to countless students, teachers, staff, and families of HCSD. The board also presented Mr. King with a plaque commemorating his five decades of exceptional leadership and devotion to the district.
 
Mr. King thanked the board members for the special recognition and told them he has been extremely lucky and blessed over the years to work with great people who are committed to the success of the district. Mr. King believes he is leaving the district in good hands and looks forward to hearing more amazing achievements from the incoming superintendent and his new leadership team.
 
Mr. King, you will be greatly missed! Congratulations to you, and may your retirement bring you much joy, fulfillment, and well-deserved relaxation!
