Posted Date: 8/22/24 (8:51 AM)

(August 21, 2024) – We are proud to announce that newly released state test results show the Harrison County School District ranks #1 in Mississippi in 3rd Grade Math, 5th Grade Math, 6th Grade Math, and 5th Grade Science. Nine schools in HCSD also rank among the top 20 in the state in various subject area tests.

According to MDE’s 2023-24 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) results, Lizana Elementary earned the highest ranking in the state in three subjects: 5th Grade Math, 6th Grade Math, and 5th Grade Science. What is even more remarkable is this is the fourth year in a row that Lizana has been #1 in the state in 6th Grade Math. We also want to send a big shoutout to West Wortham Elementary & Middle School for taking the #1 spot in the state in 3rd Grade Math.

MAAP measures students’ progress toward academic goals that equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in college and the workforce. MAAP measures student performance in English Language Arts and math in grades 3-8, science in grades 5 and 8, and high school English II, Algebra I, Biology, and U.S. History.
