Posted Date: 12/17/24 (3:43 PM)

(December 17, 2024) - Congratulations to North Woolmarket Elementary & Middle School for receiving state and national recognition! Earlier this month, U.S. News and World Report released its rankings for the 2025 top public middle schools in each state, and North Woolmarket is ranked number one in Mississippi! The exciting news caught the attention of Lieutenant Governor Delbert Hosemann, who sent a special letter to North Woolmarket Principal Roman Holmes:

“I recently read in The Clarion Ledger that the U.S. News and World Report released their rankings for the 2025 top public middle schools in each state. Congratulations to your students, to you, and your staff for being ranked the number 1 top middle school in Mississippi! Absolutely outstanding!

The hard work and dedication of each and every student, parent, faculty, and staff member has earned North Woolmarket Elementary & Middle School the acclamation of exceptional proficiency in test scores and, earlier this year, attendance accountability. I am grateful our state has you to help educate our children and to help prepare them for their success in life.”

Delbert Hosemann
Lieutenant Governor
State of Mississippi

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lt. Gov. Hosemann for acknowledging the hard work and dedication of our North Woolmarket students, teachers, staff, and parents! We are incredibly proud of everyone at NWEMS, and this recognition highlights the commitment of our North Woolmarket family and the importance of collaborative efforts in building a strong educational foundation.

U.S. News took data from 601 public middle schools in Mississippi for the 2025 rankings. A significant portion of the ranking process centered on state testing. Click here for additional information: Best Middle Schools in Mississippi - U.S. News Education.
